NEOPLAN Cityliner - From Hamburg to Shanghai

From Hamburg to Shanghai – travelling the new Silk Road in the NEOPLAN Cityliner

Two NEOPLAN Cityliners, more than 14,000 kilometres and a journey through multiple time zones. On 12 May 2016, 48 travellers set out on a seven-and-a-half-week journey as cultural ambassadors for the ZEIT newspaper to encounter the different traditions, customs and people along the new Silk Road. The trip took them to China via Poland, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan – a 38-stage journey through 2300 years of cultural history. Christian Peschke, Managing Director of the bus operator de Kieler, and his two drivers were particularly important point of contacts for the passengers during the trip. For Peschke, the journey was a great success: “Everything ran smoothly, which is why we are already planning our next special trips. This year, we will be staying in Europe, but for next year, we are planning something big again together with our partners ZEIT REISEN and China Tours.”
